    QinetiQ North America’s Unmanned Systems Group is looking for a highly motivated Product Manager in the fast paced, high tech field of tactical robotics. The Product Manager is responsible all aspects of an emerging product line including product roadmap planning, Opportunity Capture, Platform Development and Program Management.  Additional responsibilities include design, develop and product improvement, leading a multi-disciplinary team of cutting edge engineers.  The Product Manager will also be responsible for developing new concepts, identifying funding opportunities, securing internal funding, and working with Business Development to secure external funding.  The Product Manager will be responsible for overseeing and executing all aspects of a product development from concept generation to final product fielding to deployed system sustainment.  The Product Manager will be responsible for leading all aspects of development programs including technical, schedules, cost and reporting.


    Job purpose:

    Candidate will be responsible for setting technical direction and drive development in QinetiQ North America’s Waltham, MA based Unmanned Systems group.  Candidate will show thought and technical leadership in the field of military robotic products.  The Candidate will be proficient in complex, intelligent systems, have an understanding of machine design and analysis, mechatronics, and software. The candidate will perform as an engineering project team lead.  The candidate must to have a demonstrated ability to engage customers, write proposals, lead teams, interact with internal and external customers, and successfully execute complex programs.  


     Key responsibilities and accountabilities:

    1. Manage all aspects of a mature and growing product line
    2. Develop project and program opportunities, leveraging internal and external funding.
    3. Lead interdisciplinary teams to execute complex projects, ranging from early development to product delivery.
    4. Provide technical leadership within funding, schedule, and customer constraints.
    5. Work within our robotics community and build relationships and partnerships.

    Required Skills

    Project Management – Strong project management and leadership skills required.  Able to lead multidisciplinary teams, Create and assign tasks, supervise senior and junior level engineers, plan and manage projects including tasks an budgets

    Technical – Strong skills in electromechanical and software engineering, with ability to manage product development and transition products to manufacturing.  Hands on experience in assembling, testing and troubleshooting electromechanical systems in laboratory and field environments, strong skills across the entire design cycle.  Demonstrated ability in making system-level tradeoffs under tight schedule, cost, and customer constraints. 

    Leadership - Strong leadership skills:  initiative, independence, motivation.  Think creatively, promote excellence.

    Computer Aided Design – Must have a strong understanding of configuration management in system design, and product realization.

    Communication- Must demonstrate excellent verbal and non-verbal communication skills with extensive technical & proposal writing experience.  Strong presentation skills and the ability to lead customer interaction required.

    Computer- Proficient with CAD tools, MS Word, MS Project, Excel, PowerPoint.

    Program Management – PMP highly desirable



    1. BS or MS in engineering/sciences with 8 - 10 years industry experience in electromechanical products or Robotics or controls.
    2. Experience with defense product development is desirable
