    Responsibilities

    As a Manufacturing Engineering Co-op, you will help sustain and improve QNA’s manufacturing processes, assist in the design of work cell layouts, review equipment and fixtures used in production to improve throughput and reduce cycle times, as well as help troubleshoot manufacturing issues that affect production and delivery targets.

    Your application to the Manufacturing Co-op position will cover a broad range of support activities for both new product introduction, sustaining engineering, as well as continuous improvement initiatives. The range of products supported by Manufacturing Engineering, and Manufacturing Operations teams include:

    • Unmanned Robots and Vehicles
    • Soldier and Vehicle Protection
    • Maritime
    • Meteorological Sensors
    • Utility Monitoring Sensors

    Responsibilities

    • Work fluidly in a highly cross-functional team environment involving manufacturing and product development teams, as well as supply chain specialists, manufacturing engineers, and logistics and operations personnel.
    • Support builds in an AS9100 regulated environment to assure critical features are controlled through the assembly/production process.
    • Apply technical knowledge to innovate, design and develop processes, tooling, assembly fixtures and procedures.
    • Support projects involving multiple departments and/or outside contract manufacturers.
    • Develop and validate processes used in manufacturing.
    • Assist and contribute to the build and troubleshoot of initial pre-production products in support of developing manufacturing processes and supporting build documents.
    • Review and update existing manufacturing support processes and documentation.
    • Support DMAIC manufacturing practices and 5S initiatives.
    • Organize and analyze data sets that outline the systemic improvement opportunities.
    • Support issue resolution for production and assembly including root cause investigation and corrective action.
    • Able to read and interpret basic mechanical drawings and electrical schematics.

    Qualifications

    • Currently working towards a BS degree in a relevant engineering program (Industrial, Mechanical, Electromechanical preferred).
    • You must be self-managed and committed to working in a fast-paced environment.
    • Hands-on experience is preferred.
    • Professional and positive communication skills. 
    • Previous co-op, internship and/or project experience is a plus.
    • This role is available across various QNA locations primarily reporting to Franklin, MA, and may involve occasional daily assignments to Waltham, MA – must have transportation during the duration of the co-op.
