    Responsibilities

    The Embedded Controls Engineer is responsible for designing and developing real-time applications used to control equipment.  The ideal candidate will be a team player with excellent communication skills and proficient in working with various real-time operating systems.  The candidate must be proficient with C/C++ and Linux.  This position reports to the Software Engineering Manager in the Maritime Business Unit at Waltham and is responsible for the following:

     

    Primary Responsibilities:

    • Collect, document, and refine the requirements of a software product.
    • Design, code, analyze, and document high reliability, sometimes safety critical, real-time applications needed to fulfill software requirements.
    • Write real-time software utilizing C/C++ and Linux for a given set of requirements.
    • Utilize standards for robotics such as IOP/JAUS/ROS
    • Participate in design reviews.
    • Write and evaluate software test plans to insure compliance to the software requirements.

    Requirements:

    • 3+ years of directly related software project development experience.
    • Experience with C/C++ languages and proficient with Linux.
    • Multi-threaded application experience in a real-time environment.
    • Experience developing real-time robotics with C/C++ and Linux.
    • Ability to work with other motivated team members.
    • Exposure to formalized development process techniques a plus.
    • BSEE or equivalent.

    Not Required but Desired:

    • Experience with real-time simulation and testing using MATLAB and Simulink/xPC Target a plus.
    • Some experience converting C/C++ to FPGA.
