Responsibilities

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Individual will be responsible for administering all aspects of the security functions of a secure facility in Waltham, MA.  As the Facility Security Officer (FSO), this person will be responsible for handling classified information, and oversee all security requirements for compliance with Corporate security policies, the National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual, the company’s Foreign Ownership, Control or Influence (FOCI) mitigation agreement , and other Federal regulations as required.  Day to day responsibilities will include:

 

  • Process new security applications and periodic reinvestigations for employees. 
  • Be proficient with the Joint Personnel Adjudication System (JPAS) and the electronic-Questionnaire for Investigation Processing (e-QIP) programs
  • Develop and conduct initial security briefings and annual refresher training
  • Disseminate security awareness/education topics as necessary
  • Perform as liaison with the Defense Security Service (DSS) representative assigned by the local DSS field office.
  • Possess a positive history of supporting DSS audits/reviews and corrective actions as necessary with ability to provide concise and detailed reports as required
  • Have a complete understanding of Automated Information Systems (AIS) and specifically Chapter 8 of the National Industrial Security Program Manual Operating Manual (NISPOM)
  • Cooperate, support and comply with all customer contractual security requirements
  • Maintain all physical security systems and establish a relationship with local law enforcement and other Federal agencies as required for crime prevention, incident reporting, etc.
  • Have a working knowledge of completing and issuing DD 254's. 

  

Basic requirements

  • Current Secret security clearance (or higher)
  • Bachelor's degree and minimum ten years’ experience in government industrial security
  • Certification of having met DSS educational requirements for FSO position
  • Comprehensive and thorough working knowledge of all security disciplines under the National Industrial Security Program; i.e., Physical, COMSEC, OPSEC, IT Security, etc.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and be a “team player”
  •  Experience with burglar alarm systems
  • Detailed administrative and organizational capabilities
  • Proficient with various computer applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Excellent written and verbal skills

 

DESIRED:

  • Familiarity with FOCI mitigation plans such as Proxy Agreements and Special Security Agreements and ITAR/Export Controlled data
  •  Active member of the National Security Classification Management Society (NCMS)
