Job purpose:

The Production Control Project Manager will support QNA Maritime Systems business area by supporting new and ongoing Maritime development, production, and lifecycle support programs.  Serve as the Program Office’s primary liaison with Planning, Purchasing, Manufacturing Engineering, and Operations.  Responsible for Production Readiness including the coordination and synchronization of Planning, Purchasing, Manufacturing Engineering, and Operations activities in order to ensure efficient execution and on-time delivery within established budgets. This individual will ensure that the production schedule supports the program requirements by troubleshooting material and resource shortages.


Key responsibilities and accountabilities:

  1. Achieve program goals by creating production plans and requirements, and capacity plans; monitoring adherence to plan and ensuring the delivery of product to customers in accordance with their expectations while optimizing inventory and labor costs; and removing obstacles and solving problems as required.
  2. Establish, manage, and achieve Key Performance Metrics (i.e.Can Build, Deliver Forecast, Production Gates) for the team to utilize for continuous monitoring of production progress in order to maximize efficiency and overcome obstacles.
  3. Coordinate material planning/purchasing activity and drive material expediting needed to meet production requirements.
  4. Analyze and summarize internal and/or external customer requirements, current and future inventory conditions, production capacity, machine utilization and warehouse space to determine material, warehouse space and manpower requirements.
  5. Analyze and summarize operating results and prepare recommendations to improve production performance.
  6. Maintain and report status of material receipts, production readiness, and production execution.  Function as an expeditor as necessary to achieve on-time delivery.


  1. Bachelor's degree and at least 5 years' experience in production control required (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  2. Must have a “can-do” mindset and demonstrate the ability to listen and think critically.
  3. Must have strong problem-solving skills to resolve complex production and material control problems.
  4. Must have demonstrated positive leadership skills with team building.

Required Skills

  • MS Office – Must have MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) skills at intermediate level.
  • Excellent People Skills – Must be capable of influencing people with different backgrounds and priorities in order to achieve objectives
  • Material Requirements Planning  - experience with MRP systems
  • Experience Overcoming Challenging Procurement Needs – experience with demanding customer quality requirements

Desired Skills

  • APICS and/or CPIM certification preferred.
  • Experience with Navy LRIP and/or FRP programs.
  • Development and Maintenance of Logistics Management Information (LMI) in accordance with MIL-STD-1388-2B, GEIA-STD-0007, or MIL-PRF-49506.


Position is based in Waltham MA; but may require frequent performance of duties in Franklin MA.
