Responsibilities

Position Summary:

Work in a fast-paced environment, participating on engineering teams designing the next generation robotic systems for the U.S. Military.  The Systems Engineer will participate in the development, validation, and implementation of robotic systems for commercial, military, and industrial robotic applications.  The Systems Engineer will also assist in the requirements development and validation testing of new products.

 

Duties / Responsibilities:

The Senior Systems Engineer is responsible for the design, test, integration, and development support of electronic and electro-mechanical robotic systems.  The successful candidate is capable of performing a wide range of systems engineering functions, including requirements management, reliability engineering, and test engineering.  At QinetiQ North America, engineers participate in multi-disciplined integrated product teams working closely with Program Managers and Systems, Software, Mechanical, Electrical, Process, and Manufacturing Engineers.

 

Duties may include:

The development of requirements and system test documentation, safety analysis reports, system FMEAs, and technical analyses against requirements
Developing software test plans and test applications
Running a system reliability program; gathering and analyzing reliability data
Managing key product performance factors such as cost and weight at a system level
Test, debug, and production support of digital and analog circuitry and modules
Verifying and validating component and system performance to specifications
Development of test fixtures to validate complex electro-mechanical systems
Software troubleshooting and resolving issues on deliverable product
Defining and implementing design or process changes.

 

Required Skills:

Bachelors of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering
Solid Electrical / Computer Engineering background, including at least five years of relevant industry experience
Strong electrical hardware and software knowledge
Solid programming skills
Working knowledge of Military Standards, such as MIL-STD-882, MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-464
Ability to work independently and manage priorities on multiple tasks
Experience generating an FMEA and supporting data, along with proposing improvements based on FMEA output
Experience managing requirements and validation of complex systems
Experience in system reliability analysis using both calculated and measured data
Familiar with test equipment, such as Oscilloscopes, signal sources, spectrum analyzers
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work in a team environment

 

Desired Skills:

Working knowledge of Microcontrollers and C programming
Sensor integration and signal conditioning experience desired
Vehicle integration or machine automation experience is a plus
Experience with radio communications, RF / wireless design, and analog processing is a plus
Familiar with Data Collection and Analysis tools – MATLAB, LabView
Experience working with C++ and/or C#
Ability to design electrical or mechanical hardware for use in test fixtures
Digital design using embedded processors, DSPs, or FPGAs with VHDL or Verilog
Knowledge of Electrical Engineering Computer Aided Design (CAD) tools – ORCAD, Altium, PADS, Allegro

 

Travel:

Occasional domestic travel (< 10%) may be required
Frequent local travel within Massachusetts and neighboring states may be required
